FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the best time to visit Machu Picchu?

The best time to visit is during the dry season, from April to October, when there is less rain and clearer views.

You can reach Machu Picchu by train from Cusco or Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes, followed by a short bus ride or a hike up to the site.

Essentials include comfortable hiking shoes, a rain jacket, sunscreen, insect repellent, a hat, and a reusable water bottle.

Machu Picchu is at 2,430 meters (7,970 feet), so altitude sickness is less common than in Cusco. However, it’s recommended to acclimate before your visit.
